We officially have a rooftop garden!

After waiting out the last few frosty nights in DC, it's finally planting day!

Among those planted were a variety of peppers

And next to those, a carpet of flowers (since wikipedia says peppers shouldn't be planted next to really anything)

 Some blueberries and strawberries

Summer squash, zucchini, broccoli and brussel sprouts

Since the temperature was supposed to near freezing last night we covered up as much as we could with a drop cloth

The view from below, herbs front and center

And last but not least, Alex's lovely work with the string lights!

Thanks for all your help everyone!

We've broken ground!

Well, we've broken ground on the garden! Tough work but it will be well worth it.

Couldn't have asked for a nicer evening.

Thanks to Andi for picking up supplies, including 10 very heavy bags of soil!

A great start - although, it appears we will need at least 30 more bags of top soil....!

More Sprouts!

The kale sprouts have gotten bigger! And now we have carrots, cucumber, romaine and two different types of tomatoes!!
